Planning your tours

Ride Palma lists guided and supported bike tours in and around Palma, from a two-hour e-bike spin through the old town to a three-day mountain camp. Every tour is shown with its distance and climbing, so you can judge the effort before you read anything else. Use the filters for bike type, difficulty, length and place, then follow the booking link to the partner that runs the tour. This page covers how to choose, when to go and what to bring.

How to choose between the tours

Start with the numbers. Distance and climbing tell you more than any label: 22 km with 300 m of climbing is a relaxed outing, while 118 km with 1,650 m is a long day for fit riders. Then decide on bike type. Gravel suits tracks and farm roads, road bikes suit the big climbs and coast roads, and an e-bike levels out the hills. Finally check the length, because a half day and a three-day camp need very different planning.

When to go

Spring and autumn are the comfortable seasons for long days in the saddle in Spain's Mediterranean south and east. Summer afternoons get hot, so the harder rides work best with an early start, and daylight is generous from June. Winter is mild around Palma but shorter days limit the length of a ride. Mountain routes such as the Pyrenees are best from late spring to early autumn, when passes are clear of snow.

Getting to Palma and getting around

Palma airport is close to the centre, with taxis and buses running into the city. The old town is compact and flat, so you can walk between most sights. Some tours start in the city and others use a meeting point nearby, so read the start details on each tour page. Most partners can advise on bike hire or transfers; check this before you book.

What to bring and what to expect

Bring a helmet if the partner does not include one, sunscreen, two bottles and a light jacket for early starts and descents. Wear padded shorts and closed shoes, and carry ID and any pedals or shoes you prefer. Guided tours usually keep to the pace of the group and stop for water or food. Supported multi-day trips add a van and a mechanic. Confirm what is included with the partner when you book.

Why ride with us

Questions before you book

Do I need to be very fit to join a tour?

No. The easy tours cover up to 40 km and 300 m of climbing and suit beginners. The hard ones need good fitness, so compare distance and climbing with your recent rides.

Can I hire a bike and helmet?

Many partners include or rent bikes and helmets, but it varies by tour. Check the inclusions on the tour page or ask the partner before you book.

What is the best time of year to ride?

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable. Summer is hot at midday, so choose morning starts. Mountain tours such as the Pyrenees are best from late spring to early autumn.

Are all tours guided?

Most are guided. The Greenway Easy Day is described as ridden at your own pace. Check each tour page for the guiding style and group size.

Where do the tours start?

Start points vary. Some are in Palma, while the Costa Brava and Pyrenees tours take place in other regions of Spain. Confirm the meeting point with the partner before you travel.

How do I book, and who runs the tours?

Booking happens on the partner's website through the link on each tour. The partner runs the tour and handles payment, changes and cancellations.
